Local Toastmaster Earns Organization’s Highest Honor!
Missy Moore, a member of the Bridgestone Firestone Toastmasters and Stow Toastmasters Clubs, recently earned the coveted Distinguished Toastmaster Award. The Distinguished Toastmaster Award (DTM) is the highest educational honor a Toastmaster member can achieve. Less than one percent of all Toastmasters earn this honor, which takes an average of five to eight years to accomplish.
“Missy Moore exemplifies what Toastmasters is all about.” States District 10 Governor Dave Wiley, “She’s a leader and a great communicator. She is a very deserving recipient of Toastmasters highest honor”.
Moore’s path to the DTM award began when she joined Bridgestone Firestone Toastmaster Club in February 2005. She served her club in the roles of Secretary and President. In 2010, she led Bridgestone Firestone Toastmasters to the Presidential Distinguished Club Award, the highest honor a club can earn annually. Moore also served District 10 (The 100 clubs that make up Northeast Ohio) as an Area Governor. Her excellent work was recognized when she was honored with having a Distinguished Area for the 2009-2010. As a communicator, Moore has delivered over 50 presentations and has won two Area speech contests.
Other highlights in Moore’s path to the Distinguished Toastmaster Award include a leadership project involving the US Navy, chartering Stow Toastmasters, and serving as the chair for District 10 Toastmasters 2010 Spring Conference. Moore earned Distinguished Toastmaster Status in seven years, and would have accomplished it sooner if not for her deployment to Iraq as a member of the US Navy.
Moore is employed as a Mold Designer for Bridgestone Firestone. She resides in Kent with her husband Dave and daughters Brianna, Brooklin, and Brittney.
