This picture was taken when he first enlisted. Pvt. Whiting trained with The Ohio National Guard when he was attending high school at Stow. He trained one weekend a month for 6 months prior to going to basic. The training was conducted at Co E RSP training facility at the North Canton Armory.
The warriors train at RSP prior to leaving basic training. They learn basic rifle drills, first aid, drill and ceromony, tactics, and they also get paid while they are attending drill.
The Ohio National Guard does not implement the delayed entry program or DEP program. This is one reason the warriors get paid because they are actually drilling in a unit. When you swear in The Ohio National Guard your contract starts immediately.
