Burn the Turkey or Forget a Gift? Many Stow Stores, Restaurants Open on Christmas

Stop at these stores for last minute items for yourself or others on Dec. 25.

You awake Christmas morning and realize you forgot to grab stocking stuffers, or you never had time to buy fixings for a holiday feast. Just as you head out to grandmother's house, the gas gauge hits "E."

Don't panic! There are numerous Stow stores and restaurants that have your back. There are likely very few items a desperate Christmas Day shopper won't find somewhere in the city – from warm meals and grocery items to alcohol and gift cards.

Shopping

Drugstores sell household and medical supplies, groceries, electronics, clothing items, gift cards and more.

  • The lights are always on at CVS Pharmacy. The store is open 24/7, year-round.
  • Discount Drug Mart will continue its regular business hours of 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. both today and Christmas Day. The store’s pharmacy, however, will close early at 6 tonight and remain closed Sunday.
  • Walgreens is open today from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; pharmacy hours today are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Christmas Day, the pharmacy will be closed – but the store itself will accommodate shoppers from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Gasoline

Gas stations sell so much more than gas. Nearly every station in Stow will be open Christmas Day, offering up convenience store items like household products, food items, lottery tickets, alcohol and gift cards.

Check out our "traffic & gas" tab to see a live traffic map and a list of the cheapest gas prices in town.

  • BP, Sheetz and the Circle K gas station/convenience stores on Fishcreek Road and East Steels Corner Road simply never close. Ever.
  • GetGo from Giant Eagle will conduct business as usual, from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., today and on Christmas Day.
  • Speedway also will be open during its normal business hours of 5 a.m. to midnight today and 7 a.m. to midnight on Christmas Day.

Entertainment

Bored with your presents already? Can't stand to watch A Christmas Story for the fourth time that day and there's nothing on television to capture your attention? Two Stow businesses are ready to rent or sell you new and used DVDs and video games, along with accompanying snacks and drinks.

  • Family Video is open from noon to midnight – every day of the year.
  • Discount Drug Mart has a video rental department that will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. both today and on Christmas Day.

Dining

Here's where the field of Christmas Day choices really opens up – particularly if you're in the mood for Asian cuisine. There's even some Thai and American fare available.

  • Brubaker's Pub – with menu items that include chili and gourmet sandwiches – will be open from 7 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. on Christmas Day. The classic "Cheers" type bar and neighborhood grill even has darts, big-screen TVs, a pool table and jukebox.
  • Thai Gourmet will be open from noon to 9 p.m. for eat-in or take-out. Phone orders are accepted.
  • Need it delivered? Hunan of Stow offers that choice, along with dine-in, and will be open from 3 to 10 p.m. on Christmas. The MSG-free restaurant specializes in Szechaun, Mandarin, Cantonese and Hunan cuisine.
  • Main Moon will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. , offering takeout or eat-in meals.
  • Tong-Tong Chinese Restaurant will be serving up its cuisine from noon to 7:30 p.m. for those who want to eat-in or takeout.
  • Mocha Joes Coffee House is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m on Christmas Eve if you need that caffeine fix, but the store is closed on Christmas Day.

Don't know who gave you the info but discount.drug.mart closed at 6pm. Now at CVS, which is at least open.
