Bye, Bye Big Boy — Hello, Panera?

Demolition on the vacant restaurant right off of State Route 8 in Stow on Graham Road began Thursday and the owners have a plan for the space.

Big Boy, the chain restaurant that has been closed in Stow for about five years now, is in the process of being torn down.

Planning Director Rob Kurtz said while there has not been an official application submitted for the property, he's optimistic about that lot.

The owners, Deville Developments Inc., have been in talks with Kurtz. While the preliminary details aren't being shared, Kurtz did say the owner gave him permission to tell Stow Patch that the plans include constructing a Panera.

This would be the second Panera in the city. One is currently located on Kent Road

The ex-Big Boy was 6,300-square-feet and the property is zoned C-5, for highway services.

"I think any large vacant building is not a positive thing. I'd say eyesore is too strong a word for that building, but it'll be good to see some changes over there," Kurtz said.

What type of establishment would you like to see at 1063 Graham Rd.?

A First Watch would also be nice. There is one at Summit Mall and one in Solon. Not sure we have the demographics, but it is an excellent breakfast and lunch place with emphasis on healthy and interesting food. Just had pumpkin pancakes at Summit Mall yesterday. On , the other hand, do we really need another restaurant in town , or at that very busy area. I didn't go to the Big Boy or the Shoney's because the building was recessed and I never noticed it AND it was too hard to get out of the driveway.

yea, they should really try to re-arrange that driveway situation to maybe make another exit out of the adjacent plaza or something. it's impossible enough getting out of that speedway, let alone this location.

I would like to see something other than a "chain restaurant" go in there. We already have a Panera in Stow.

I think they should put a Red Lobster directly across from the other Red Lobster.

I think something like this would be really successful in our area. Especially since it will attract people from UA and KSU. http://www.gomongo.com/

Graham Road does not need any more businesses added to it it is way too busy. There are too many cars traveling through that area. Sure it's great business but if nobody can get to your building they're not going to spend their money there are way too many cars. I absolutely hate Graham Road. i grew up on Graham Road when it was just two lanes. The area where they're putting the Panera bread is just too hard to get into sure you can go around to Hudson Drive but that's getting too hard to get in and out of also. I don't understand why they don't build up Steele's Corners Road.

I really wish these development companies would take a poll and ask the us what we want / need around here. 2 Applebees, 3 Starbucks, and now 2 Paneras? What a waste. Would love to see a nicer restaurant or a healthier option in Stow.
http://crispersonline.com/ <-- This place is a great option! Too bad they're all in FL.

Would be great to get a Buffalo Wild Wings or a Smokey Bones! We already have a Panera nearby.

I earlier posted "Hooters", but not entirely for the reason you may assume. Whatever goes there, it would be good if it was more of a "one-of-a-kind" spot that people would travel from around the area to visit. Something not found in every area.
