Back-to-School Class Lists Will be Posted by Mid-August
Wondering about some back-to-school information?
It's still summer, but back-to-school to-do's are on parent's minds.
The district announced July 25 that class lists will be posted on the main doors for all elementary buildings on Aug. 17 by 4:00 p.m.
Speaking of elementary buildings, vote for which school you think is the best in this Readers' Choice poll.
Here's the back-to-school schedule:
(Note that eighth grade students originally were scheduled to return Aug. 23, they are now returning Aug. 24.)
- Kindergarten through seventh grade and ninth grade students return Aug. 23 (Thursday).
- Eighth, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students return Aug. 24 (Friday).
Start/End Times:
- Elementary: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Lakeview: 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
- Kimpton: 8 a.m. to 2:38 p.m.
- High School: 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Gee, how nice of them to tell us what's going on SIX DAYS before the start of school. Am I the only parent driven nuts by this? At Echo Hills, the supplies needed are by classroom, not by grade, so we generously get four days until open house night to make a mad dash for school supplies. Forget watching the sales!

I already have my child's list for Echo Hills. It's on the website.
As far as school supplies, I buy them anyway (pencils, pens, markers, colored pencils, crayons, scissors et al) because it is such a great deal. If I wind up not needing them, then I donate them. Just something to consider.

IM: yes, the supply lists are up, but they are BY TEACHER, not GRADE. I guess I could sit down & compare lists and buy the things that are the same, and THEN go out at the last minute to get whatever is left... but doesn't that seem a BIT inconvenient to you? It does to me. Which is why I'll wait until class lists are posted.

Exactly! I think it's crazy for families that have to arrange care!! Especially for kindergarten: families have no idea whether their kids are morning or afternoon OR EVEN WHICH BUILDING they'll be in this year. And paying for all-day doesn't solve the problem, either, as we don't know until the last minute which building they're in, either.
