Construction on S.R. 8 Will Continue Into Next Week Now

The far left lane on the state route will be closed through the weekend into next week.

Originally, Stow Mayor Sara Drew thought construction on State Route 8 to repair cracks and potholes would be done by June 8 — but construction will continue into next week now.

Crews began to fix potholes and cracks on the state route Monday. Crews will wrap up work every day at 3 p.m. until the project is complete, said Drew.

One lane at a time will be closed on the highway. Lane closures will begin in the southbound lanes at the Stow/Hudson corporation border and continue south to Graham Road.

The city of Hudson will also have lane closures for repairs to State Route 8 at the same time.

Progress of Construction

"Patching is complete and the slow speed lane on Route 8 southbound has been opened to all traffic. The far left lane on S.R. 8 southbound will be closed tomorrow and kept closed through the weekend and into next week until repairs can be made to the high speed lane as well as the center lane," said Street Superintendent Don Brooker. "The closures will begin in Boston Heights and end at the Stow /Cuyahoga Falls border."
