What do you think of the results of the unscientific poll so far?

Cool Amanda,
It unscientifically shows who needs to get their campaigns in gear. Sure does look like some incumbants are going to be joining the private sector.

I'm always surprised by the "unsure" results. I actually expected it to be a larger number already ... so many people decide the day of the election.

Unless you are registered more than once on the site, you cannot vote twice. I'm not saying that isn't happening (unfortunately).

Unfortunately, our unscientific poll does not allow us to vote for more than one option as I stated in the post: "In some races voters may select more than one person, but we cannot allow more than one vote in our unscientific poll."

Yes, it seemed to change after school was out for a while. I figured that would happen. Certain groups with significant $ invested usually can manipulate these types of polls even though they're just for fun.

Wouldn't it be so much easier if you could really vote this way? I always hate when I see that American Idol gets more votes for someone than a political candidate.

Great poll Amanda!

Amanda, the video on the candidates' page was helpful, but it seemed that not many of the candidates showed up that night. Didn't any of the at large candidates participate?
Are you planning to post video of tomorrow night's school board candidates? Do you know how many of them are planning to show up? It would be a waste of time to go if there were only a couple of them there.
Thanks!

Michael, the videos were taking a long time to put together. I will have the at-large candidates up very soon, sorry for the delay! So much news in Stow, this city keeps me busy! :)
I do not know who is planning on going to the BOE candidate night, but I will be there with my video camera and will have the videos posted before the election.
Thanks for asking Michael.

Donny and Amanda- Thanks for the responses.
I'm glad you will also have video of school board since I won't be able to make it.

If this poll is in any way an accurate indicator, I am scared for Stow's future.

It all depends on what time of the day/night you're looking at the results as it varies some. Also, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Also this is just an unscientific straw poll. We will of course, have the real results on election night Nov. 8. If you're a Facebooker, like our Stow Elections page for the quickest results that evening! http://www.facebook.com/StowPatchElections

Cleveland Plain Dealer Endorses Issue 20 saying: "The Stow-Munroe Falls schools have cut more than $2 million since 2006, but with another $1 million in state budget cuts looming, this excellent-rated district -- already one of the region's lowest-cost districts in per-pupil outlays -- needs the extra money. Voters who rejected this levy in August should reconsider."

So, if you think highly of the Plain Dealer's endorsements I assume you're voting FOR Issue 2 (SB5) since they endorsed that as well.
Everyone knows that all newspapers always endorse all school levies no matter what the actual homeowners and renters are going through in those cities. They seem to assume that everyone has the extra $20 to $40 per month and that they have a 6 months of it ready to pay promptly in February since this new $65,000,000 10 year levy is retroactive and was already voted down by the residents in August. They don;t seem to consider that we have many less students than we used to and yet continued increasing the staff over those years up until just a year ago. They don't consider the 155+ staff currently pulling in between $70,000 and $122,000 per year, plus benefits and pension and that many of the residents in the community are at wits end. They don't consider that Stow and Munroe Falls has been very supportive of their schools by passing a school levy on average every other year for the past 3 decades. They don't consider that there are programs in place that are pulling federal funds that could be used in ways that better helps our students instead of spending money sending teachers out of state for indoctrination into UNESCO's IB program which many parents are against. They don't consider that many homeowners are in much more financial crisis than the district and that it's less for a family to pay the increase sports fees than increased taxes.
