Final Vote on Stow 2013 Budget Tonight

Stow City Council will review the city's $28.4 million budget on third reading

Tonight Stow City Council will hear what is expected to be the final reading of the city's 2013 budget before voting on the $28.4 million in expenses projected for this year.

Council called a special meeting tonight to vote on the budget, which originally was set for a final vote on March 28.

Stow Mayor Sara Drew said the budget has not changed from what was originally discussed earlier this month at council, and the special meeting was called so that all seven council members could attend.

Drew said she anticipates council will approve what she described as a conservative budget as proposed by her administration.

"I believe the city administration ... and I have put together a balanced budget that reflects the diverse needs of the city and is also responsible to the taxpayers," Drew said.

The budget has "an effective deficit of $1.414 million," Stow Councilman Mike Rasor wrote on his Stow Patch blog. Click here to read Rasor's blog on the budget.
