Forget to License Your Pup? Get Your Late Fee Waived with a Donation
Donate a can of dog food at four Acme locations on Saturday to have the late fee waived.
Did you miss the deadline for getting a license for your pooch? Avoiding that late fee is as simple as making a donation.
On July 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at four Summit County Acme Fresh Market stores County Executive Russ Pry and Fiscal Officer Kristen Scalise will sponser Can Do!, a one-day program that provides amnesty to Summit County dog owners purchasing 2012 tags.
Owners who failed to purchase their dog's tags before the deadline will have the $14 late fee waived if they donate a can of dog food to Summit County Animal Control.
Stores participating include (click the link for the address) Acme No. 1 (1835 W. Market St., Akron), Acme No. 2 (2420 Wedgewood Drive, Akron), Acme No. 14 (3235 Manchester Road) and Acme No. 17 in Stow.
The Ohio Revised Code (ORC) requires citizens who own, keep or harbor a dog more than three months of age to purchase a dog license on an annual basis.

Which west side Acme is offering this? The story says "Acme #1 in Montrose" but Acme #1 is on West Market Street in Akron. Thanks!

@Akrex: Sorry, you're right. The Medina Road (also West Market, haha) location is not participating. This one is 1835 W. Market St., Akron. I'll fix it in the story.

Thanks much! Funny how I tend to think of that road as Market Street until Summit Mall or so, when I begin referring to it as Route 18. Why? Because that's how my parents did it. Old habits die hard. ;-)
