Halloween Date, Time for Trick-or-Treat 2012

The mayor officially selected the day and time for Halloween this year — so mark your calendars!

It seems a bit ridiculous to announce the date and time for Halloween in February, but Mayor Sara Drew said residents started calling for this information just after she took office

Halloween is scheduled for Saturday Oct. 27 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Usually the trick-or-treaters go out from 6 to 8 p.m., but Drew said she wanted to start it a little earlier for the younger children participating in the holiday.

Seriously?
People started calling about Halloween ALREADY? Are these callers aware it's February?

Well, Stow residents can apparently plan realllly far ahead! (I'm kind of jealous, I can't plan more than three days into the week.)

Thanks for making it easy to add this right to my Google calendar, Stow Patch! Most likely our development will keep the 6-8 time, but it's nice when the whole city goes on that Saturday before Halloween.

yah... isn't it always more difficult to have kids go out on a school night though? Halloween is on a Wednesday this year.

We had about 12 kids show up last year. Wasn't even worth buying candy for. If this city had more sidewalks more kids would be able to enjoy Halloween. A lot of kids I know go to other cities for the safer walking conditions. Can't blame them.

Ya know, I miss the days when we went trick or treating on Halloween whenever our parents got home from work and we finished dinner. I hate how we continuously reschedule holidays, etc to make it more "convenient" for everyone....

Anyone have their costumes figured out yet? I wanted to go as the Starbucks logo. Not sure how I'd pull that off. Last year I went as Facebook.

I can't believe towns around here reschedule Hallowe'en. So when should people celebrate Christmas this year? Maybe we should change it to spring so we don't have to drive in the snow if we travel?

FYI: the parks and rec flier about Halloween has INCORRECT times on it. The time listed in this story is correct.

I am very thankful this issue has been brought up so early. I work 12 hour shifts and it's hard to take off but with this being put out it allows me plenty of time to find coverage.

I'll definitely post next year's trick-or-treat date early again. Glad this has been helpful.
