Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Hey Ward 3, What Do You Like/Dislike About Your 'Patch' of Town?

Patch and the Ward 2 Councilman wants to know what the best and the worst things are about your section of Stow.

It's the smallest Ward, but the best, right Ward 3 residents? Or maybe not, maybe there's a lot you dislike about your "patch" of town.

Stow Patch and Ward 3 Stow City Council member Brian Lowdermilk want feedback on what you like or dislike about your area of Stow.

There are 7,919 people who live in Ward 3, according to the 2010 U.S. Census. Not sure if you're one of the 7,919? Check out the ward map attached to this post.

This is the fifth post in a series that will run through the summer where Stow Patch will ask residents of specific sections of town what their gripes or cheers are for their area of Stow. Last week Stow Patch took resident's temperatures on Ward 2, then Councilman Jim Costello replied to those concerns and cheers.

So Ward 3, what do you like and dislike about your neighborhood?

Have any questions specific to your ward? Have any problems that need to be addressed? Have a story about neighborly love to share?

Tell us in the comments section!

Councilman Lowdermilk lives on Samira Road and his phone number is 330-686-7744.

I know on my road we do not have sidewalks or streetlights on my road, or most of the other roads around us. I know it would be a huge cost to change that but I think that the look of the area would improve and of course the safety of those who would like to take walks & the children living here. Luckily we have smaller dogs who don't have to get a walk in all of the time but I know if we had sidewalks we'd take them out a lot more!! It's only 1 day a year but I'm sure we'd get more kids out for trick or treat & they would be so much safer too!
Speeding is a HUGE problem on my road & it drives us crazy!! We don't have kids but there are a lot of families with young/small children on our road, we don't know any of them but I always worry about them. I'm on Liberty between Stow Rd and Moreland Rd - it seems like some people use it like a drag strip and others just fly down the road in general. I'm sure this is something that this is a common and tough issue to fix. Maybe between residents, the Councilman and the Stow PD it could be worked on.

Amanda, I'm across Graham on Sanford. I said the same things about Ward 1. Need sidewalks and streetlights. Our answer from Ward Councilman Matt Reihl was to refer me to the process of getting a petition for the improvements. Nice, except I'm really not up for travelling up and down the streets, banging on doors, and explaining these things over and over and over. So, end of issue. I thought it was an issue of safety for the community like you did. Guess it's thought of as a convenience.

Ed - streetlights have to be agreed on by a majority in your area. Partridge Highlands has tried twice in the 16 years I've lived here to get the required support, but when it gets down to dollars & cents talk, there is no majority in this neighborhood willing to bear the (substantial and lengthy) cost. Although I understand the safety perspective, I personally prefer NOT adding to the city's light pollution. I enjoy being able to star-gaze right from my own backyard!

If one is not willing to put forth the "effort" to get enough signatures from your street on a petition, then you've officially given up your right to complain about it as it must not be that big of a deal.

It's not uncommon for street lights (esp.) and/or sidewalks to be added decades later, but there is an annual assessment for them on your property tax bill (which is quite small). But, I'm sure that if the city just took it upon themselves to do it, then taxed you accordingly, people would complain about that, too that they just went ahead and did it without getting a vote of the people (or whatever typical whining people do).

McClure, you have made your pronouncement without a clue as to why a person cannot "put forth the effort". One may be willing but unable.

You did not say you were "unable." You were implying you did not want to go through the effort.
Again, just more excuses so you can continue to point fingers elsewhere.

oh, brother. you are a piece of work. or something. "implying" ? where ? so far all I've seen from you is your need to pick apart posts and act superior. a big mouth hiding behind the keyboard.
