K9 Tracks Down Teens in Stow After Kent Shooting; Youths Cleared of Any Involvement
The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. Turns out it was a "wrong place, wrong time" situation for three 17-year-olds.
The three teens Nero, the Stow Police K9, tracked down in Stow early Wednesday morning for possibly being involved in a shooting in Kent were cleared of any involvment by officers.
Kent Police received a call at 12:21 a.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired. They discovered a male, 17, at 782 Silver Meadows Blvd. with multiple gunshot wounds. According to police radio traffic, the victim had been shot in the head.
The suspect fled westbound on foot armed with a handgun, said Kent Police. Officers were looking for a white male in his mid 20s, approximately 5-feet 8-inches tall, heavy build, who was wearing a white sleeveless T-shirt.
Two Stow officers got a call from Kent that the suspect was seen headed toward Stow and they began to patrol the area of Graham Road and Fishcreek Road.
An officer was on Graham Road when he saw a man in light-colored clothes running from behind a doctor's office, according to a police report.
The K9 helped track down a 17-year-old male in the tall grass behind Burger King. Two other juveniles, both 17, were also found in the grass.
After further investigation, the teens "did not match the description of the suspects," said Stow Police Chief Louis Dirker. The three boys were cleared by Kent Police, he added.
All of the teens were released to their parents. One teen was examined by EMS for an injury to his back from Nero and another teen was examined by EMS for passing out on scene, said police.
According to a Stow Youth Services report, the juveniles were out past curfew and obstructing official business.
Dirker said "the three youths had nothing to do with the shooting in Kent. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Kent Police are still looking for the suspect.
Again, the suspect is described as a white male in his mid 20s, approximately 5-feet 8-inches tall, heavy build, who was wearing a white sleeveless T-shirt at the time.

Does the 17 yr. old have any info on who shot him? He was just walking down the street and someone walked up and shot him? once in the head? If this is a random act, I hope we have the entire police dept. on this. We all need to be packing just in case.
Seems like our victim needs to start talking and telling the whole story.
