LOOK: Huge Turnout, Fishcreek Exceeds Goal at Raccoon 5K Run (Photos)

The goal was to hit $10,000, but volunteers and participants managed to exceed the goal by $2,000.

The goal was to raise/net $10,000, and the total at the end of the day was more than $12,000. Julie Obraza, Fishcreek principal, colored her hair blue — as promised — since the goal was met!

There were 592 registrants, with approximately 570 participating on race day.
Final results from the Summit Athletic Running Club are still pending.
About 30 participants won donated prizes from local businesses when their bib number was called, in addition to race winners/awards.
There were 36 safety spotter volunteers on the course, along with Stow Police Reserves

The money raised will benefit Fishcreek Elementary.

What a great event! I was amazed to see how many people came out to run and support a great cause. I am also thankful for the all the volunteers who put on this great event and worked so hard. Looks to me "The Raccoon Run" should become an annual event.
