Major Power Outage in Stow Wednesday

Police issue warning about non-working traffic lights; Ohio Edison is en route

Stow Police are reporting that many traffic lights in the city are not currently operating due to a major power outage. Ohio Edison is aware of the problem and has told police that workers should be in town by about 10 a.m. to fix the problem.

City employees are in the process of placing generators at the intersections of Graham Road and S.R. 91 and Kent Road and S.R. 91 to assist with traffic flow.

Police have issued a reminder that an intersection with a non-functional traffic light or a flashing traffic light should be treated as a four-way stop.

Motorists approaching an intersection where a traffic signal is malfunctioning or completely out of service, they should:

  • Stop before entering the intersection.
  • Yield the right of way to vehicles in the intersection or approaching on an intersecting road.
  • Exercise ordinary care while proceeding through the intersection.

Our lights were blinking last night in our home and we were wondering if it was just our house. I hope it was part of this!

My power went out at about 11:30pm last night and I like on Orchard Dr off of Kent Rd. It is back on now but I am not sure about the traffic lights on Kent Rd.
