Moment of Silence Planned at New 9/11 Memorial Garden Tuesday
The public is invited to the unofficial dedication of the finished 9/11 Memorial Garden.
Sept. 11, 2012 marks the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on American soil.
The soil at the entrance of City Hall has been transformed into a 9/11 Memorial Garden, thanks to donations from the public. The garden will be complete by Tuesday morning.
Mayor Sara Drew asked the public to join her at the site, which features a steel I-beam from the World Trade Center, for a moment of silence at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
"The city of Stow will observe a moment to mark the day in memory of the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001 and the subsequent years," she said.
It is the unofficial unveiling of the memorial as there are aesthetic aspects that still need to be added, Drew said.
