Ever wish you could just drive through a Panera line? Well, your wish may soon come true.
At tonight's 7 p.m. meeting, city council will look to approve plans to build a 8,823 square foot Panera at 1063 Graham Road. The land was formerly occupied by Big Boy, which was torn down in November.
Planning Director Rob Kurtz said what makes this Panera different from the one on Kent Road is the addition of a drive-thru.
If approved, Kurtz was unsure when the new restaurant would open.
Are you excited about a drive-thru Panera, or do you wish something else was built there? Tell us in the comments.
Thanks. We'll email you the next time we update this story.

My boyfriend took me to Panera once. I couldn't find a single thing I liked and hated what I ended up getting :-(

I like Panera, but it would be nice to get a new restaurant that we do not currently have within a few miles, such as Buffalo Wild Wings, Macaroni Grill, California Pizza Kitchen, etc.

Zoup would be better. Far better food than Panera.

Good freaking Lord. Someone is making an investment by tearing down a long-vacant eyesore, build something NEW and bring in NEW businesses with it, and people still complain that something/anything else "would be better."
It's new businesses generating additional INCOME for the city in the way of sales and taxes. THAT is better than what has been there the past few years.

I really think an upper end restaurant like Carrabas is really needed in that area. Some people don't care to go near Chapel Hill Mall.
