This year's Sunset Blast was well attended by young and old alike. We went to see who was having fun and what there was to do.

The Stow Patch sponsored a booth with face painters and EJ the Cartoonist, who provided drawings for kids and adults alike. Jaron Droder, 8 from Stow, gets his sketch while Aiden Mowrey, 8 from Stow, admires his new portrait.

Micheal Weber, 13, leads the band "Retro" in their version of "Voodoo Child" as performed by Jimi Hendrix. Weber performed several solos during the song including playing above his head and behind his back. He has been playing guitar since before he could walk.
Tyler Romine, 5, checks to make sure his brother Trent made it into the "Fun Express Train." The Tallmadge residents made several trips through the inflatable maze.
Kaylee Anderson, 6 from Stow, climbs up "The Wild One" before going down the slide at the end of the ride.
The Stow Parks and Recreation Department held a Cornhole Tournament at the baseball fields on the west side of the festival. Krista Romance, from Stow, organized the event which consisted of 30 teams playing for several hours. Prizes were given for top teams including gift certificates to the Stow Sports Center, Rocknes and Pancho Lefty's.
John Stein, from Stow, competed confidently in the tournament and predicted a win early in the contest. He plays cornhole regularly and participates in a cornhole league.
Friends John Markley, at left from Monroe Falls; Chris Schneider, from Stow; Ed Herring, in red from Stow and Adam Holtz, at right from Stow, briefly stop their contest for an impromptu pose. Holtz was excited to be in the Stow Patch again.

The Stow Parks and Recreation Department put on this year's Sunset Blast at Silver Springs Park. Thousands of Stow residents and visitors from out of town came to sample the food vendors, play on the inflatable rides and stayed late for the fireworks.

Check out the photo gallery to see what happened.

I received a nice email from Richard Spangler about the Rotary Golf Ball Drop "Special thanks to Rob Netro for taking the time to showcase the Great Golf Ball Drop by the Rotary Club of Stow-Munroe Falls. Proceeds of the "Drop" support the Christmas Helping Hands which benefits school age children during the holidays."

I'm so bummed I missed it! Rob's photos made me feel like I could experience it a little though. Glad it turned out to be such a wonderful event for the community. Throw another party soon so I can come!
