Police Chief Representing Cancer Survivors at 2012 Relay for Life
Police Chief Louis Dirker was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2009.
Police Chief Louis Dirker, who has non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, was selected to be the Survivor Ambassador at the 2012 Relay for Life event in June.
"I am someone who has always taken pride in staying in shape and working out almost on a daily basis," he said in a Stow Sentry story. "I thought I was in the best shape possible, and discovering that I was not invulnerable to such a disease as cancer was devastating; however, one thing I did learn was that there is help available and that you do not have to face this alone."

The relay is scheduled for 10 a.m. June 2 at the Akron General Health and Wellness Center.
