Renacci, Mandel Accepted Thousands from NRA in 2012 Campaign Contributions

Open Secrets published a list of recipients of National Rifle Association campaign contributions that also includes Steven LaTourette, John Boehner.

Ohio Republicans Josh Mandel and Jim Renacci accepted thousands in 2012 campaign contributions from the National Rifle Association, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

The NRA doled out more than $750,000 in campaign contributions in 2012, according to the Center, a research organization that tracks money in politics and how it affects elections and policies and shares the information on OpenSecrets.org. The center got its data from the Federal Election Commission.

In the top five for 2012 were Ohio Treasurer Mandel, who accepted $9,450, and U.S. Rep. Renacci, who accepted $9,900, according to the report. Mandel made an unsuccessfu bid to challenge incumbent Sherrod Brown for U.S. Senate this year.

Fifteen Ohio lawmakers accepted $1,000 or more from the NRA, according to the report. That list included House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, ($2,500) and former U.S. Rep. Steve LaTourette, R-Ohio, ($3,000).

What is the point of this article? Can we see a list of organizations that gave MILLIONS in support of those trying to turn our country into a communist Marxist socialist state!!!!! I am a retired US Army officer, still honoring my oath to protect and defend our country and Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and proud to be a member of the NRA, primarily because they support that same oath.

There's a link to the searchable database. Go see for yourself! Patch is reporting the facts. There was only ONE Ohio rep on the list who was a democrat. The point is to help open up dialog about who is supported by whom. You've been given a tool for research. Do your own leg work.

"Who were the Dems on the list ?"

All you had to do was click the link provided in the article. It even provided a drop down box to search for Democrats.

But, that was too difficult for the likes of you. Putting your stupidity on display w/the others was much easier.

What is the point of the article? Are you trying to link candidates with the gun lobby so we draw the conclusion that politicians are responsible for events in Newtown? That is the inference your readers draw whether they are willing to admit it or not. This is the kind of media treatment of the issue that leads to an escalation of misinformation and emotion. As a result the problem will continue without a sane discussion and proper path to a solution.

Why does this extreme Progressive author feel the need to make it seem a Sin to accept contributions from the NRA? Is it because as a Liberal Female, she must toe the Party line and support renouncing the 2nd Amendment? The problems we face are from a growing Liberal Society that is accepting of everything Politically Correct, and nothing Morally Correct. This author takes a Politically Correct stand, from the Liberal viewpoint, instead of a Pragmatic look at what is really wrong with America.

Please, oh please Ms Patton. Can you tell us more. Please tell us the names of those who accepted money from Socialist Front Organizations. Also enlighten we poor fools who would most benefit from an America where citizens were not allowed to bear arms? Also, given your vast credentials in research, tell we fools what happened to Germans, Poles, French and other law abiding citizens when they were convinced to lay down their arms.

I'm old and afraid of my shadow. Does anyone know how I can join the NRA? I'm hoping they can teach me how to carry five assault rifles at a time while screaming like a pre-teen about My God Given Rights.

Any time I find myself in an indefensible position, I just have to blame some random happening on Obama or "the libs" and then I feel much better.

Renacci needs to wake up and smell the coffee. He should return all campaign contributions from the NRA so that there is no perception of a conflict of interest when he is considering gun control legislation that will be forthcoming in 2013.
