What started as a simple equipment violation turned into something bigger on Jan. 23.
Stow police pulled over Emmanuel Maxwell, 21, of Silver Lake, for not having a back license plate light, according to a police report. After running his name through their system, officers then realized he had a suspended driver's license and his license plate didn't belong to the car he was driving, the report stated.
After searching Maxwell's car, officers found 2 grams of cocaine and a straw with cocaine residue on it, the report said.
Police charged Maxwell with a felony charge of possession of cocaine. He was also charged with drug paraphernalia, fictitious plates and driving under a suspended license, the report stated.
