Why exactly are we arresting people for smoking pot. It has been proven by both the government and science to be a safer alternative to alcohol and cigarettes. And yet we waste our time and more importantly our tax dollars on this. I thought the stow police had more important things to do like issue speeding tickets and look in to teens drawing with chalk.

proven by "government and science?" California studies?

One of many articles based on recent studies:
http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/your-health/47030-marijuana-can-permanently-damage-teenagers-brains-lower-iq

Just causes premature brain damage; lower IQ when used during the teen years. These teenagers turn into adults living with their parents or living on the bottom rung of society (although very laid back) blaming society for their problems and lack of motivation. Living off government checks (or their parents) and as paid protesters voting for the political party that supports that lifestyle.

We have to compete against Europe,China,India for jobs;the last thing we need is do damage our "brains" with by excessive drinking and pot/drug use.

jiim: ecstasy is not "the date rape drug." you're thinking of rohypnol ("roofies"). ecstasy is more of a psychedelic "recreational" drug.

matthew: they weren't arrested for smoking marijuana. they were arrested for possession. read the article. i actually don't think you can be arrested for smoking marijuana, unless actually observed. i think it's just an additional charge they can throw on you, if they already have an arrest-worthy offense on you. but i'm not sure.

Although the legalization of marijuana is a popular cause, absolutely NO ONE advocates its use by minors.
