Thief Breaks Car Window to Nab $1,000 Laptop

A Stow man away from his vehicle for just over an hour Sept. 20 returned to find that a window had been smashed and his $1,000 Dell laptop and other items were gone.
The man, 41, called Stow Police at 10:18 p.m. Sept. 20 to report the theft from his locked 2011 Honda Pilot parked outside a restaurant in the 4100 block of Bridgewater Parkway. The man told police he left the vehicle, locked, at about 9 p.m.
Also stolen were a computer bag valued at $50 and a Home Depot credit card. Damage to the broken passenger-side window was estimated at $300.
Police indicated that charges for the crime would include two counts of theft, both fifth-degree felonies, and criminal damaging, a second-degree misdemeanor.
Ritchie Road vehicle break-in
On Sept. 24 a resident of the 1300 block of Ritchie Road called police at 7:20 a.m. to report the theft of $90 worth of items from his vehicle.
The man, 57, said the vehicle may have been unlocked, but he wasn’t sure. The crime occurred sometime between 7 p.m. Sept. 23 and 5:30 a.m. Sept. 24.
Items stolen included a black leather soft-sided briefcase valued at $40, a digital camera valued at $50 and personal papers, including tax documents.
