This Just In: Archie the Snowman Is Making a Comeback

After standing for decades in Chapel Hill Mall, Archie the Snowman was torn down in 2006; however, plans have called for the wintry giant to be resurrected by November.

They did it.

Akron natives Tommy Uplinger and David Burkett were successful in convincing the City of Akron to rebuild Archie the Snowman by this November—just in time for the holidays.

The pair – who organized the “Bring Archie Back” initiative in 2011 – have been in talks with Akron Deputy Mayor David Lieberth over the last month and received word on Wednesday that Archie would be provided a new home within the Lock 3 complex.

“It’s a long time coming,” said Burkett. “It’s been six years since Archie was torn down at Chapel Hill. Through our Facebook page and campaign, I think the city realized the interest in reviving everyone’s favorite wintertime attraction.”

According to Uplinger, the city will pay to rebuild the snowman; only this time, Archie will stand at 14 feet versus 22.

Akron city officials are also interested in leveraging the attraction to generate donations for one or more local charities, he said.

Uplinger and Burkett had also been in talks with Cuyahoga Falls Mayor Don Robart who was open to the idea of bringing Archie to Falls River Square if Akron wasn't interested.

I know this won't be popular, but I always found Archie just a little creepy.

Because I know we have so many fanatics around Louis Vuitto USA, I couldn’t resist posting these first looks at the Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 ad campaign from Louis Vuitto Online Store. If you followed a few months ago, you probably could have guessed how this campaign would look – pale, precious and ever so sweet. The brand tapped Steven Meisel to shoot Daria Strokous and Kati Nescher in the world’s most luxurious ice cream shop, and the result fit the mood of the clothing and accessories perfectly. Check out another shot after the jump Louis Vuitto Outlet Online.
