Westlake's Most Viewed Story of 2011: "Bowling Green Man Charged With Murder in Death of Phil Masterson"
Phil Masterson, a 25-year-old Westlake native and 2004 St. Ignatius High School graduate, was found dead by his family in the woods behind a rental property on South Bass Island in September. Zachary Brody (pictured) of Bowling Green was charged with murder, voluntary manslaughter and felonious assault in the death of Phil Masterson. Authorities believed Masterson was beat to death. Both Masterson and Brody had mixed martial arts training. Read the story here: http://patch.com/A-lRSq Westlake Police Department

When police put out the word that one of Avon Lake's own, Tricia Kowalski, was missing, the city stepped up and helped spread the word to help locate the 15-year-old high school student. The plan worked, and Tricia was located safe and sound the next day. Read the story here: http://patch.com/A-fZVj
Deborah Heusser believes in destiny. And that adopting Love-A-Stray cat Bouncy was her destiny. Heusser doesn't remember how she found the video on Patch last week featuring Bouncy, a seven-year-old brown tabby whose owner died a few months ago. A dangerous line of thunderstorms brought down trees and power lines in Cuyahoga Falls in May. Tornado warning sirens blared at about 7:30 p.m. as the thunderstorms blew through Northeast Ohio. A funnel cloud was reported near Cuyahoga Falls. Pictured is a police cruiser blocking Fourth Street at Stow Avenue after a tree fell onto a house during the storm. It's not every day that a national television show comes to town, so when The Food Network brought Robert Irvine's Restaurant: Impossible to The Mad Cactus, Strongsville was buzzing with excitement. The crew was in town for two days in August remodeling the 20-year-old Tex-Mex restaurant and revamping the menu; the show aired in November. Read this story here: http://patch.com/A-kXwR But, if you really want to know what the experience was like, check why the restaurant owner called Irvine 'a hothead' and how TV crews tricked him: http://patch.com/A-n5q2
A Willowick man says he was offered $50,000 from life insurance money to kill the ex-husband of a Beachwood woman, and that she seemed pleased when shown a pictured doctored to make it look like the man was dead. This story was the first of several following the trial of a Beachwood father and daughter who are charged with trying to hire a hitman on Facebook to kill the daughter's ex-husband. It was picked up by The Huffington Post and AolNews, and we're still following this story on Beachwood Patch. Read the story here: http://patch.com/A-jgHb
