Update: Man Who Met Fictitious 14-Year-Old Sentenced to Probation, Fined
The 27-year-old from Stow was also ordered to pay a fine.
Trevor Wozniak, the Stow man who pleaded guilty to charges stemming from meeting a fictitious 14-year-old girl with a condom, received two years of probation May 1, according to the Summit County Prosecutor's Office.
Judge Pamela Barker also fined him $1,000.
Wozniak, 27, will be required to register as a Tier II Sexual Offener. He could have received up to 2.5 years in prison.
On Aug. 15, Wozniak posted an advertisement indicating "he was looking for fun" and that he did not discriminate against "age, race, or size," according to the prosecutor's office.
That same day in August, an investigator with the prosecutor's office and the Ohio ICAC Task Force responded to Wozniak's Craigslist advertisement posing as a 14-year-old female.
After several emails, Wozniak made arrangements to meet the made up 14-year-old female for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity, the prosecutor's office said.
Wozniak was arrested at the meet location with a condom in his back pocket, according to officials.
On April 2, Wozniak pleaded guilty to one count of attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and one count of possessing criminal tools.

And just how does probation and a fine keep young girls safe???

Exactly, Leigh. This slap on the wrist is an insult to the law enforcement officers who brought this guy in. You can bet he's going to try to hook up with a minor again. They should have put him in jail for a while. THAT would have been the best deterrent to future crime. At least he has to be registered now. Hope he moves out of Stow at least.

Good question Pamela, I'd like to know too. Did anyone google this guy? You won't like what you find (he teaches kids music and plays in a band at a church).

These is no treatment for this kind of deviance. Best you can do his avoid/isolate or try to suppress the drive chemically.
In cases like this (obviously guilty) .. 24 hour leg monitor and scarlet letter/Tatto on head to warn everyone.
Sound extreme? I'll ask you after your son/daughter grandson/granddaughter or niece/nephew runs into this guy. I’m sure another fine and extended probation will resolve the issue for you.
Also. Google returns reference to his Church Band. but text from page has been removed... I hope the pastor gives heads up to his flock. Generally by the time a sex offender is caught he has had dozens of victims.

Well, at least PART of the system is working. I just got an emailed sex offender notification that this guy has registered as living at 2667 Lancashire Drive, Stow, OH, less than a mile from my house and EXACTLY one mile (according to Google Maps) from Woodland Elementary.
