Visions for Vacancies: Towne Center Plaza
Patch's Visions for Vacancies feature asks for your input on vacant commercial properties
One of the largest vacancies in the Stow Towne Center Plaza near the intersection of S.R. 91 and Norton Road is the former Clubhouse location towards the plaza's eastern end.
The plaza itself, which has several thriving businesses such as Guava and Tong Tong Chinese restaurant, also has multiple other vacancies while being connected to one of the Stow Giant Eagle locations.
Patch wants to know, what kind of business or organization you think would make a good fit for the former grocery store? What do you think would find success in the former Clubhouse location or other vacancy in the plaza?

When will we reach the point of "Too Much"? All this retail space is unused because at this time it is unwanted and unneeded. Tear it down and bank the land for the future. How long has the Stow Kent Plaza been an oversized wasteland? Don't force an issue when it won't help Stow.

I would agree with you, to a point, that is too much. But, in regards to Stow-Kent, it was just a "doesn't-give-a-damn" owner who was just letting it sit there. Until the residents and city started recently demanding action. I believe this is the same owner who sat and did nothing to the old State Rd Shopping Center as it crumbled (in some sections). Stow-Kent is way too big for today. It served a purpose decades ago when it was built. Not anymore.
I don't think it's the same for Stow Towne Centre. I think it just might have suffered from either not being aggressively marketed and/or rents were too high (the place isn't that old). I've noticed some of the vacancies being filled over the past year or so.
Plus, how long has "The Clubhouse" been closed? It has to be years! I could see another sports-themed place going in there and working...as long as people know about it.

We have no where for youth to go in stow. As a past president of a boys and girls club, i see a need for a youth center. somewhere kids can go and interact and socialize while doing something fun.
