KFC Ordered to Close by the End of May, What Should Replace the Business?
According to a settlement, the fried chicken restaurant must close by midnight May 31, 2012.
A settlement between KFC Corp. and a franchise owner in the area is shutting the fast food restaurants down.
"In 2010, KFC sued Rao’s Hospitality, Gita Rao and Ganesh Rao Ponneri, alleging copyright infringement and breach of contract. KFC said the franchise failed to pay about $175,000 in royalties and advertising fees," according to an Akron Beacon Journal story.
In March, Rao's Hospitality and KFC Corp. received a settlement in U.S. Bankruptcy Court and the restaurants were ordered to close by May 31, 2012 at midnight.
Calls to the KFC on Kent Road, that was newly remodeled, were not answered.

Mayor Sara Drew said she was not aware of a closing date for the Stow location. The Cuyahoga Falls KFC already closed weeks ago.
Economic Developer Mike Weddle said the news of the restaurant closing came to him as a surprise.
"I'm always sorry to see a business close, our economic development team will focus on getting something in there," Drew said.
What business would Stow residents like to see replace the KFC when it does eventually close? Tell us in the comments section!

Joe's Crab Shack! I always see commercials for them on tv, but the closest ones are in Pittsburgh or Columbus. It's such a tease. Or Quiznos could come back, I miss them!

I just sent a tweet to @Joes_Crab_Shack asking them to come here :-)

Awesome! Let me know what they say. I'd like a Joe's too, but it seems like that space might be too small for them?

Noodles & Company. The place is fantastic! http://www.noodles.com/
Joes Crab Shack will not come. They failed in Cuyahoga Falls didn't they? Quiznos also failed in Stow. If they couldn't make it work before why would they purchase a stand alone building and risk even more?

All of the Quizno locations in Stow (3) failed, and the company is struggling to stay out of Chapter 11. They've been struggling for several years.
The advantage to that specific KFC is that they just finished renovations just a month or so ago, so I would believe that would be a significant selling/leasing point to a potential fast food/quick service establishment.
Just an FYI -- the Falls' KFC closed in mid-December and never reopened because of health department violations.

Yes Joes Crab Shack was in Cuy Falls, but that was years ago. Who knows with a new owner...I agree the place is too big for a Quiznos. I just miss them and I don't like Jimmy John's sandwiches, I can make the same at home.
I've got tons of noodles at home, why go out for noodles? I've got boxed noodles, bagged noodles, frozen noodles, noodles in jars, just-add-water noodles, ready to eat noodles...

No one is going to invest money in bring Joe's back if they failed in this area already. Noodles in your house? The same thing can be said for seafood. I've got seafood in my freezer at home too. Poor argument. Noodles & Company is one of the top growing franchises right now. Quiznos is a dying brand.

What about another fried chicken place? (With 22 percent of you saying you're happy they are closing as of 4 p.m., I'm looking forward to seeing your response.)

Noodles are easy to make. Seafood not so much.
Wow I didn't know Quiznos had 3 locations around here. I knew of 2.
Where is Chic Fil a in Cuy Falls?

I was just re-reading the story (I didn't realize it was updated after I first read it that says the Falls one actually reopened -- before closing again lol), and since this was an issue with the franchisee, I wonder if another franchisee would be interested in re-opening it as a KFC. Especially since it's been remodeled, has the colors, etc. (and I'm assuming the equipment within the stores is property of KFC).

Has anyone been to The Original Steaks & Hoagies in Twinsburg? It is awesome! This would be a perfect place for a Stow location!

Leigh, you think all they serve are plain noodles? Try looking into it a bit more. They offer shrimp, steak, chicken, beef, tofu, meatballs, salads, sandwiches, potstickers, etc. and you would rather have yet another Quiznos? Yes lets bring in a failed sub shop when we already have one across the street in subway.

I agree with jack that another franchisee should move into this area and reopen the closed locations under the kfc brand. Either that, or another chicken joint would be nice.
Another idea is a Little Caesars hot and ready. It sucks having to drive to the falls, Kent, or streetsboro for it.
