If you would see me typing at my desk you would laugh.
It's makeshift and in a storage area...and my chair sits FAR below the actual surface, so I type with my arms up. When the door opens, I freeze, when someone uses the bathroom...I'm too close by.
I had a comfy office with a cozy job just a year ago. A cherry desk, two cradenzas, a manequin (that's another story), my boss was my husband. I gave it all up for this little crazy bakery venture and crazy it has been. I'm a self-proclaimed great cook, but I don't bake.
People laugh at this, but my response is that I can taste and I understand food enough to know what people want (I think). :) I am not comfortable in my own skin with this place yet, but I am getting there. I still hold my breath when each pink bakery box goes out. I want perfection.
I want our customers to be happy. It's about an experience for me...making sure that our customers feel like they stepped into a little shop in a big city with beautiful creations and tasteful treats. It's also about making my two little girls and my hubby proud.
"My mom has the BEST bakery ever," says my four year old. My seven year old might be the proudest kid at her school because she gets to bring treats from momma's bakery.
So, I gave up the cozy office, but I work with two extremely talented artists and a bunch of crazy college kids everyday and that's awesome! I get to have my daughters dream of their own store one day and that's awesome!
I get to taste Jody's homemade pop tarts that are cooling on the bakers rack as soon as I am done with this blog and that is awesome.
So I challenge you...find your pop tart and enjoy it today.
