The SMFHS Speech and Debate team has accomplished something this year few teams in the area can say: Qualify seven students to compete in Indianapolis June 10 through June 15.

Congressional Debate qualifiers Dom Aristide and Michael Welden will join the two Public Forum Debate teams of Anthony Erhardt-Chris Browne and Ali and Dani Herman. On the speech side of things, Dramatic Interper Theresa Liebhart will represent Stow this year in Indy.

The problem? These seven individuals need money in order to compete, eat, sleep in a motel, etc. Head coach Suzanne Theisen, a Hall of Fame inductee in 2011, says that the squad needs around $8000 to cover all the costs this trip will impose.

A donation of any size would be gladly appreciated, and Theisen even offers to send results of competition to those who ask. Donations can also be directly sent to the high school, at 3227 Graham Rd. Envelopes and checks should be labeled as property of the SMFHS Speech and Debate Team or Suzanne Theisen.  The team has been working very hard through a variety of fundraisers (car washes, nights at Handels and Bob Evans, and even a Hat Day sale) so please consider giving to the team that has found so much success in representing Stow-Munroe Falls this year.
