What started out as a few families getting together to tailgate prior to home Stow-Munroe Falls High School football games has now evolved into a group known as the Bulldog Backers.
For the past couple of years, the Backers have erected tents, pulled out the yard games, and feasted on tailgate food in the parking lof of the high school, all in the spirit of supporting and cheering on the Bulldogs! On a typical evening, the Backers are 30-40 strong, which includes students of all ages, parents, grandparents, and even the Bulldog Backer mascot, Hoss, a real live bulldog.
The tradition continues this year, and the Backers invite all Bulldog fans to join them in the high school lot prior to every home football game, beginning at 5:00pm. Pizza is provided, so just bring your own side dish to share, along with refreshments for your family. The Homecoming game festivities are especially fun and an event you definitely don't want to miss!
The Bulldog Backers are also proud to announce that this year, because of a generous donation from Josh Taylor of TTR Shipping, they were able to start the Bulldog Backer Scholarship Fund. It is a $500 scholarship, to be presented at the Recognition Night at the high school when all other scholarships are presented. Criteria for the scholarship is still being developed, and this scholarship will be awarded for SCHOOL SPIRIT. Donations into this fund will be accepted at all Bulldog Backer events, or you may contact Brian Phelps at StowBulldogBackers@gmail.com to make a donation.
