SMFHS IBMI Career Program receives "Silver Seed" Award

STOW, OH—OCT. 11, 2013—The SMFHS International Business & Marketing Institute Career Program (represented by Rachel Hoover and Alivia Brisbin) received the “Silver Seed” award from African Sky’s Executive Director, Dr. Scott Lacy (Stow Alumni) at the African Sky’s annual Silent Auction Benefit held at St. George’s Fellowship Center in Akron.

The “Silver Seed” award was originated with Jim and Linda Peshina.  They were first to make a substantially large donation to African Sky.  The Peshinas actually gave Dr. Lacy a bar of silver and that was the creation of the “Silver Seed” award which represents that they planted the “seed” that had a huge impact on African Sky’s early growth.  The award is to honor and recognize those whose substantial commitment, global vision, and contribution continues to plant seeds of empowerment that changes the lives of children and villages in Mali, Africa.

The International Business & Marketing Institute chose African Sky as their international project two years ago.  Their goal is to raise enough money to build a “Stow School” in Mali.
