Whiz Kid: Tyler Reinel

Tyler asked City Council if money is in the budget to paint one of the city's water towers.

Name: Tyler Reinel, 11.

School: , Cuyahoga Falls.

Accomplishment: Tyler came to a City Council meeting last month with his father, Phill, to ask about the water tower on Geneveive Boulevard. Tyler wanted to know if there was money in the budget to paint the water tower and when the city planned to do give it a fresh coat of paint.

City Councilmember Mike Rasor suggested Tyler be featured as a Stow Patch Whiz Kid.

"I was floored by his confidence in standing up before a room of adults and telling everyone how his neighborhood could be improved. The most impressive thing was, he didn't simply demand the change," said City Councilor Mike Rasor. "He picked a very clever way of making his point, by asking whether there was money in the budget for it, without sounding like a complainer."

Tyler got his answer from Assistant Public Service Director Mike Miller.

"We intend to paint the water tower on Genevieve this year, provided that funding remains available after other projects that are currently or will be bid ahead of it have their budgetary numbers finalized," said Miller. "Cleaning out the water tower at Genevieve ... we hope to do in conjunction and at the same time as painting the water tower. Cleaning it out is important for water quality, water pressure in our system, and redundancy for our primary tower on the city campus."
