Wind Knocks Out Power for 1,600 in Stow Wednesday

About 1,600 homes and businesses in Stow lost power today as a result of the this afternoon, but FirstEnergy Corp. said half of those customers already have power restored.

Mark Durbin, spokesperson for FirstEnergy, said around 1:30 p.m. today power was knocked out to about 1,600 homes. As of 3:50 p.m., he said 800 were still without power.

In Summit County, about 3,800 FirstEnergy customers reported being without power, he said. And, overall in the Cleveland-Akron area, there were 30,000 outages reported.

"We're in the process of getting it back up as quickly as we can," Durbin said. "We'll probably have it restored by this evening unless another storm rolls in."

Durbin said he didn't have a specific location in Stow where power was out, but said if residents return home from work without power, call FirstEnergy at 330-665-2223 to report the outage.
