Winter Concert at Stow-Munroe Falls High School

The concert bands will present their annual winter concert at 7 p.m.Dec. 14 in the school auditorium.

The concert – which is free and open to the public – will include selections by the four high school concert bands. Each band will perform both holiday and non-holiday selections.

The freshman band will perform "Declaration Overture" by noted band composer Claude T. Smith"; the special-arrangement German Christmas carol "Still, Still, Still" and a fun medley of holiday favorites entitled "Scherzo for Santa."

The Gold Symphonic Band will perform "Go Galop" by Ohio's own march composer, Henry Fillmore; "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," a tune made famous by Judy Garland in the 1944 movie Meet Me in St. Louis, and Leroy Anderson's holiday favorite made famous by the Boston Pops Orchestra, "A Christmas Festival."

The Maroon Symphonic Band will perform the exciting,  new composition "Steel" by  Randall Standridge"; "Carol of the Night," a stirringly beautiful arrangement of "Silent Night," and "Temple of the Murals" by Brian Balmages

Finally, the Wind Ensemble will feature a composition by film composer Rossano Galante entitled "Transcendent Journey"; the haunting and lyrical Christmas Carol "Cantique De Noel" ("O Holy Night") and the holiday favorite "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson.

The concert will showcase the talent of the 240 members of the Stow-Munroe Falls High School Band program. The bands are under the direction of Brian Monroe, Sandra Sandman and Greg Newman.
