Stow, OH – Despite the sluggish economy, there are local employers that are currently hiring.

The Community Job Club, Inc., along with the, The RealMatch Job Network and the , will be sponsoring a job fair on Wednesday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Akron General Wellness Center, 4300 Allen Rd., in Stow. This free event will be open to the public and will feature more than 25 local employers and staffing agencies.

Companies such as Viking Forge, Little Tikes and Northwestern Mutual Finance are seeking candidates for positions in manufacturing, sales and marketing, transportation, clerical support and technical operations. Staffing agencies, including The Callos Companies and Hunter Temporary Services, will also be in attendance and are actively hiring for similar openings.

Job seekers are encouraged to dress “business casual” and bring copies of their current resume. They will have the opportunity to meet personally with employers to discuss their backgrounds and interests to help determine whether there’s a potential fit. To facilitate matching job seekers with employers, a color-coding system will be used to designate which fields each company is looking to staff.

Proceeds from business sponsorships and employment booth registrations will benefit the Community Job Club, Inc. Companies interested in learning more about purchasing a booth - hurry, booth space is limited - or job seekers registering for the event may email their requests to helpwanted@recordpub.com for more information.

Will Akron General be having a booth with any nursing positions? If not, any other medical agencies?

Hi Karen,
I will have to check with my contacts at Record Publishing and the Job Club to find out if AGMC has confirmed their booth. The deadline for employer registration is in the next couple of weeks. Let me see what I can find out and get back to you here. Thanks. Barb

Hi Karen, I have a quick update for you on healthcare-related organizations that will have booths. Akron General will have a booth there as well as Hattie Larlham and AlterCare. There are still 15 open booths remaining. If any are purchased by other medical / healthcare organizations, I'll let you know.
