Americans Are Driving Less, Are You?

Check out the gas prices around town. High fuel costs made Americans drive less in 2011.

Are gas prices causing us to re-think our love affair with driving?

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration, Americans are driving less. We drove 38.3 billion fewer miles in 2011 than we did in 2010, a decline of 1.4 percent.

The change wasn't quite as dramatic in the north central region of the U.S., including Ohio, which saw a decline of 0.7 percent to 53.6 billion miles.
