Bye, Bye Big Boy — Hello, Panera?

Demolition on the vacant restaurant right off of State Route 8 in Stow on Graham Road began Thursday and the owners have a plan for the space.

Big Boy, the chain restaurant that has been closed in Stow for about five years now, is in the process of being torn down.

Planning Director Rob Kurtz said while there has not been an official application submitted for the property, he's optimistic about that lot.

The owners, Deville Developments Inc., have been in talks with Kurtz. While the preliminary details aren't being shared, Kurtz did say the owner gave him permission to tell Stow Patch that the plans include constructing a Panera.

This would be the second Panera in the city. One is currently located on Kent Road.

The ex-Big Boy was 6,300-square-feet and the property is zoned C-5, for highway services.

"I think any large vacant building is not a positive thing. I'd say eyesore is too strong a word for that building, but it'll be good to see some changes over there," Kurtz said.

What type of establishment would you like to see at 1063 Graham Rd.?
