It's a word to describe what the treats and will look like and it describes the personality of the owners.
Friends Heather Rice and Tara Colopy, both 33, have shared the same dream of opening a unique, local, "sparkly" bakery for years and now that dream will become a reality in just a few weeks.
Colopy, the woman in charge of the business side of things, said she's pushing for the store to open the third week of September.
Rice, who has been baking out of her home for more than 15 years, and Colopy met just a few years ago.
"She just kept telling me for the longest time, 'Quit your job and open a store,' and she was serious," said Rice. "One day this winter, I looked at her and said 'Let's do this!'"
The ladies selected the 900-square-foot former Edward Jones space near at 3732 Darrow Rd. #10 because of the traffic in the area.
Rice said she wanted to open the business in the place that she's called home for 20 years.
They expect to hire between eight and 10 part-time Dipped and Dazzled employees.
Wondering how the duo came up with the name for the business?
"When I was baking at home I always told people I was dippin' and and dazzling," said Rice. "I just knew that had to be the name if I ever opened a store."
Stow isn't the only city to get a Dipped and Dazzled Bakery though. The owners said they are looking to also branch out to Kent or Fairlawn by next summer.
"Our families are extremely supportive of our efforts," said Colopy, the Tallmadge resident who is married with two children.
Rice, who is married with three children and two step-children, said she's been baking for years for hundreds of clients out of her 100-square-foot kitchen.
"This is my first venture with a store, but I've really built up my business the last two or three years," said Rice.
While Rice is busy dipping her desserts, patrons should expect to be dazzled by the decor in the store.
"We're going with a vintage elegant look: a pink, black, silver theme with crystal chandeliers," said Colopy.
"Sparkly!" Rice said enthusiastically.
The bakery will offer single treats like cake pops from $2 to detailed wedding cakes that could cost up to $1,000.
The women are putting the bakery into four categories:
- Everyday: Traditional cupcakes, cake pops, cookies and brownies.
- Today: "Whatever I feel like making that day," said Rice.
- No ordinary day: A wedding cake pop bouquet, a special birthday cake ... items that need consultations.
- Same day: "That's for women like us who need to go to their mother-in-law's tonight and didn't have time to bake anything. We'll whip up something fabulous to feed 20 people that same day."
