Do you Like Acme's New Look? Grand Re-Opening Friday

About eight months after construction started on the grocery store and its parking lot, everything is finished! Tell us what you think about the improved store in the comments!

After eight months, are done at Acme.

Another new change is that  announced at the last luncheon that he will be returning to the store from the store in Parma. Look for a story about his return on Stow Patch soon!

A Stow Patch Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/StowPatch) friend said, "I love the store and the open format of all the departments!" Do you agree?

My mother Hates the way the store has been rearranged. If she had an alternate choice (she also hates Giant Eagle), she would shop there. It is very confusing for people who have shopped there for many years to have to find out where EVERYTHING is. It would have been better if they had rearranged things more subtly over a year, so that people could have gotten used to the changes. I personally can say that I found it very confusing to find things the last time I was there.

We found it confusing DURING the construction, but were in the store enough times to be able to understand what Acme was trying to do. We were at the opening on Friday and made sure we picked up a sheet showing - roughly - where items are, so be sure to do that. Also the employees are a good source of directing the shopper.

I was very disappointed. The floor at the entrance is ugly and the shiny wood flooring a little inside the store makes the contrast even more obvious. I didn't think the lighting was bright enough. My sister who lives in Florida and is used to Publix ( a great grocery store) was very impressed with the Giant Eagle in Stow on Norton. I agree with her. I stopped on Saturday afternoon and there were no carts available, so I looked around a bit and left. (I would have bought Turkey meatballs and a nice wine I had tasted) The deli area didn't attract me enough to walk over to it. I suppose long-time Acme fans will probably like it.

I think EVERY grocery store should come with a map! Ever try to find capers in a grocery store? That's always a fun hunt.

AWESOME idea, Amanda. We need maps since stores seem to always be rearranging after you just get used to one way. Maps would help bring new visitors to Acme and GIant Eagle. It takes me twice as long to shop at a store I'm not familar with and I usually buy less because I can't find things.

I usually buy more because I can't find things. Maybe that's why they don't have maps... I wander down aisles and I think "oh yes, I absolutely need that new kind of cracker and ... ooo, what's that? a new kind of juice? I need that too." Then I forget what I was looking for and have to stop at another grocery store on the way home to get those darned capers.

I love capers too. One thing that would cause me to shop more at Acme is if it was open in the evening longer, but I guess they know their clientele. We work late many times and therefore must resort to a store that's open past 9 or 10PM. Acme just closes too early.
