A vacation Bible school that is out of this world

Don't just send kids to VBS. Send them to outer space at Stow Presbyterian Church's Galactic Blast VBS June 10-14.

Sending the kids to camp this summer? Why not send them to outer space? One
local church is recruiting kids as space explorers for a cosmic adventure to discover our remarkable universe and the awesome God who created it.

Galactic Blast vacation Bible school (VBS) will be held at Stow Presbyterian Church, 4150 Fishcreek Road, Monday, June 10, through Friday, June 14, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The program is free and open to all children in the community ages K-6th grade.

“VBS is always an awesome week at our church,” said Pastor David Weyrick. “The program takes over our entire building and grounds and there are just kids everywhere. They’re having fun, singing, making friends, and getting excited about God. It’s amazing.”

At Galactic Blast, kids will board the starship Galactic Praise and spacewalk through the Good News Galaxy. Along the way they will create cosmic crafts, explore science activities at the Orbital Observatory, play games at Rocket Rec, and enjoy out-of-this-world refreshments at the Astro Bistro.

“Kids will have fun and learn about all that God has done, all that He is doing, and all that He promises to do,” said Children’s Director Monica Albright.

This year’s program also features special nightly visits by a mischievous alien from a faraway planet, and includes just a hint of a famous TV program about space exploration, much to the delight of Pastor Weyrick.

“I’m a big Star Trek fan,” he admitted. “And I’ve learned Captain Kirk may make an appearance at our program, so I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Mrs. Albright said taking this year’s VBS to outer space was an obvious choice.

“Our previous VBS programs have been to Africa, the bayou, the high seas, the desert…even the Olympics. It seemed the next incredibly fun place to go would be off the planet.”

Registration for Galactic Blast is available at the church or online at www.stowpres.org. Advance registration is encouraged for planning purposes. For more information, contact the church at 330-688-6935 or info@stowpres.org.
