15 Marijuana Plants Found in Stow Home (Photos)

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

It was trick nor treat for on Halloween when they found a marijuana grow operation on a Pambi Farms street.

Stow Police suspect Clevelanders were growing marijuana plants in a "stash house" in Stow, where officers found 15 mature marijuana plants on Halloween.

"I would categorize the grow as one of our better ones, fairly complex with high tech grow equipment and very high quality plants," said Stow Det. Tom Gottas. "The grow room was ventilated pretty well and you couldn’t smell the marijuana until you were inside the house, where as usual, the odor was pretty strong."

Offers responded to a call at 3279 Suffolk Downs Oct. 31 because a neighbor said a garage door had been left open at the home for several days, said Police Lt. Anne Stirm.

When police arrived, the door was unlocked and when after entering the home, officers said they smelled what was believed to be marijuana.

The Summit County Drug Unit was notified, and, after getting a search warrant, officers took the plants and equipment used for cultivation.

One of the second floor bedrooms was converted into a grow room with about 15 mature plants, 4- to 5-feet tall. The master bedroom bathroom area and walk-in closet were also converted into grow rooms," said Gottas.

The home is in foreclosure and vacant and officers suspect those involved with the grow operation are from Cleveland.

"Not something that is common in Stow, for sure," said Gottas.

No one has been arrested or charged and the case is under investigation.

"There will be arrests forthcoming soon," he said.

Charges could include illegal cultivation of marijuana, trafficking marijuana and possession of marijuana.
