Loud 'Boom' Heard at Stow-Kent Border Sunday Night

Facebook users said they heard the loud noise around 9:45 p.m. on Easter — but Stow emergency departments didn't get any calls about it.

Did you hear a loud "boom" in Stow or Kent Sunday evening? You're not the only one.

At 10:30 p.m., Capt. Mark Stone said the Stow Fire Department had not received any calls about a loud sound. He added that the dispatch center received no calls about the incident either.

But — many near the Stow-Kent border still heard it and sirens.

Facebook followers jumped online and posted on the Stow Patch Facebook page about hearing a boom loud enough to disturb their pets and shake their homes.

Maria Lauriano Gabanyic first started the conversation about the sound at 10:11 p.m. Sunday. "Anyone else hear a huge boom about 15 minutes ago??"

Shortly after, asked Facebook users the same question. Within minutes, dozens of people gave feedback:

The sound was heard at Wing Warehouse too.

Click here to read all of the comments on the Stow Patch Facebook page. Many suspected the noise came from Kent because many residents who reported hearing a boom are close to the border.

(Editor's note: If you're a fan of the The Walking Dead and haven't watched the season finale, there is a spoiler in the Facebook feed.)

Kent Patch also asked readers on Facebook if they heard anything Sunday night. See what they had to say here

We heard it on Graham Rd. (near Osage), also. We looked out the windows and waited to hear sirens, but nothing. Sadly, we too, figured it was another meth lab.

Meth lab was my first thought too when I read the title of this article. Really says something about the perception hovering over our great city lately. :(

I live off Call Road and also heard the boom during the same time period. It would be nice to find out what it was.

Don't worry, we're working on it!

Cant believe no one knows what it was yet??? Any word from Kent Fire or Police Dept??

Is it possible it was just a really loud firework?? I feel like if it was Anything else, someone would know SOMETHING.

There have been reports all across the country about strange and unexplained loud booms taking place. From the witness testimony it sounds like some sort of controlled detonation. A meth lab explosion would preclude a lot of smoke in the air. If you didn't see fire/smoke you shouldn't of even considered meth lab.

I heard this too. If memory serves me correctly, this isn't the first time this has happened. The last time, the culprit was suspected to be the drilling site next to New Hope Church on Rt.91.

We heard it too, and we live on the border. It shook our house.
