Ribbon Cutting for New Field Marks Start of Fall Sports Season

Mark your calendars, a ribbon cutting is scheduled for Aug. 23 and if the weather cooperates, the football home opener will be on the new turf.

As of Aug. 15, there is one full week of work remaining on the at and plans for a ribbon cutting have been made for Aug. 23. 

The public is invited to the ceremony next Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The girls soccer team will play on the field following the ribbon cutting. 

Those who attend the ribbon cutting will get free admission to the girls soccer game that same day.

The next day, the football team will play on the field. That is, as long as everything goes according to plan. If it rains, the field may not be complete in time. 

"We’ve got seven full days left of work to complete, so we are planning to host the home opener on Aug. 24. However, it could rain and affect the work schedule. We do have alternate plans in place for the home opener. (If the field isn’t ready, the game will be moved to Aug. 23 at Kent State University," said Athletic Director Cyle Feldman. "We’ll know a more definite answer early in the week.
