Meet the top 10 academic students at Stow-Munroe Falls High School
Today Stow Patch introduces you to Kayla Andersen, one of the top 10 academic students at Stow-Munroe Falls High School.
Stow Patch: What was your senior GPA
Kayla Andersen: 4.374
Patch: What clubs/sports did you participate in?
Andersen: I have run both cross country and track all four years, lettering each year. I have also played trumpet in the High School's marching band for four years and been a member of Wind Ensemble for three years. For the past three years I have also played my trumpet in Jazz 1. I've been co-president of the Science Olympiad team for the past three years. This past year I was accepted into NHS and I volunteered for the club.
Patch: What are your post-graduation plans?
Andersen: I plan to attend Case Western Reserve University with majors in Biomedical Engineering and Trumpet Performance.
Patch: Who was your favorite high school teacher?
Andersen: It's very difficult to pick just one teacher, because I've had so many great teachers over the years. If I have to pick, my favorite high school teacher is probably Mr. Stratton because I absolutely loved his class and I feel I learned not just about English, but life.
Patch: What was the most memorable advice you received in school?
Andersen: One piece of advice that I received in high school that I remember to this day is, don't stress about your grades because in the end you're not going to remember if it was a 98 percent or a 90 percent.
