Where to Find Harry Potter Author J.K. Rowling’s New Book in Stow

Harry Potter may have vanished into the past, but author J.K. Rowling is still around, with her for-adults book The Casual Vacancy due out this Thursday.

In Stow, you can find the book at Target, Walmart and, of course, at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library (details below).

The new book by the creator of Harry Potter is aimed at a grown-up audience.
According to USA Today, the story is set in the little English town of Pagford, and revolves around an election held after a member of the parish council unexpectedly dies.

Despite the Miss Marple terrain, press materials describe The Casual Vacancy  as "blackly comic … Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty facade is a town at war."

If you’re looking to check the book out from the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library, it will be available in several formats – but there are waiting lists to contend with.

The library has ordered the following copies:

• Five regular print (there are already 24 holds)

• Two large prints (17 holds)

• One book on CD  (four holds)

• One Playaway digital audiobook (no holds as of Monday)

• Three "Top Shelf" copies. These books do not take holds and only go out for seven days instead of 14 like other materials.

• Check the library catalog for e-book availability after Thursday.
