The Stow-Munroe Falls High School Bands will be presenting their annual Winter Concert on Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. in the High School Auditorium.
The concert will feature the Freshman Band, Maroon Symphonic Band, Gold Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. Selections include both holiday and non-holiday selections.
The concert is free and open to the public. The program has been honored as one of the best in Ohio and across the country.
Holiday selections include: Fum, Fum, Fum, Fanfare for the Holidays (featuring Joy to the World), Christmas Celebration (featuring March of the Kings, Greensleeves, I Saw Three Ships, Lo, How a Rose and Bring a Torch).
A Winter's Night (based on Silent Night), A Christmas Fantasy (Joy to the World), What Child is this, The Twelve Days of Christmas, and A Most Wonderful Christmas (Winter Wonderland, I'll be Home for Christmas, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year).
Other selections include Jupiter from the Planets by Gustav Holst, Joy in All Things by Brian Balmages, Arsenal by Jan Van der Roost and Jubilant Fourishes by Travis Weller, just to name a few.
As a fundraiser following the concert Dairy Queen Blizzards will be on sale for $3.50. According to band director Brian Monroe, the concert will feature the talents of over 250 students and will be a fantastic concert.
The bands are under the direction of Brian Monroe, Greg Newman and Sandra Sandman.
Each year, over 650 students participate in the Stow-Munroe Falls City School Band Programs in grade 5-12.
