'Little Shop of Horrors': Mrs. Luce

Junior Theresa Liebhart is getting ready for yet another performance on the SMFHS stage!

Junior Theresa Liebhart just never stops.

After her lead performance in the SMFHS Junior Class Play “12 Angry Jurors,” and after her successful Speech and Debate season that led to national qualification, Liebhart is back to the stage for this year's musical “Little Shop of Horrors.”

“What excites me most are the performances. There is absolutely nothing like getting to perform for a sold-out crowd,” Liebhart said.

Liebhart, who is set to play both Mrs. Luce, an “eccentric, overbearing woman,” and a member of the Ronnette Chrous, tried out for the show because of the family atmosphere.

“I love the people I get to perform with,” Liebhart said.

After “Jurors” ended, Liebhart and the rest of the cast hit the stage to begin working out some of the most important details to the show—blocking.

“Little Shop,” as any show will, has brought about some conflicts among each member of the musical. Liebhart points out the trouble she has seen with the cast and crew by stating the time conflicts all members face.

“Also during shows, people get frustrated and tempers get short often so we've had the occasional arguments, but the cast and crew has also learned to deal with those,” Liebhart said.

Liebhart started off pursuing acting at her days in the Lakeview Intermediate School musicals, such as “Aladdin Jr.” and “Into The Woods.”

After getting to the high school, Liebhart got involved quickly with Drama Club and Speech and Debate, eventually leading to where she is now.

In addition to Drama Club and Speech and Debate, Liebhart is active in the school band. She is currently the Treasurer of Drama Club and the Junior Vice President of the Speech and Debate team.
