'Little Shop of Horrors': Ronnette

Brooke Lytton in her biggest role at Stow yet!

Brooke Lytton has been around the SMFHS theater since her freshman performance in the musical “Bye Bye Birdie.” Since then, she claims she has been “hooked.”

“I...have been involved in every production I could audition for,” Lytton said.

So it should come as no surprise that the junior with a strong voice is playing the role of Ronnette in the school musical's “Little Shop of Horrors.”

“[Ronnette is] basically the opposite of me,” Lytton said. “She's a sassy, controlling street girl and also tells the story of 'Little Shop' along with Chiffon and Crystal (Sruthi Sundaram and Shelby Denton). Together they are the 'Ronnettes.'”

The three girls have the challenge, Lytton adds, of being in sync with each other the entire show, creating what she refers to as a “one-person feel.”

“This role is definitely the most difficult one that I've had but I think we finally got it done and the Ronnettes are where they should be,” Lytton said. “ I hope to put my own spark and energy into a role that already has a reputation for being huge and energetic.”

Lytton is involved with much more other than “Little Shop,” including performances with Weathervane Playhouse. The junior is also in Drama Club—where she has been a number of different roles the group includes in their performances—and Madrigals, which both include the arts of acting and singing she will display this weekend. Finally, she was also a state qualifier this year for the Speech and Debate team.

Lytton and the rest of the Ronnettes can be seen this weekend—that is April
20, 21 and 22—for a variety of ticket prices that have been on
sale.

For $8, students and senior citizens can enter in general admission seating; others may purchase the same tickets for $10.

For a better seating arrangement, reserved seats guarantee a decent spot to watch the performance for $12. More information on ticket prices and how to buy these tickets can be found by reaching www.littleshoptickets2012@gmail.com.

Lytton said, “[I am most excited for] the audience's reaction. 'Little Shop' is such a bizarre, crazy show and I'm excited to see how the audience reacts to it.”
