We've got a busy week here at the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library! Tomorrow, Miss Lydia leads our Special-Needs Storytime at 4:30 p.m. Her award-winning programs combine iPads with storybooks to engage the attention of children with all sorts of abilities.

On Wednesday, there's our movie -a new release presented free of charge on the big screen, complete with popcorn and soda- at 2 p.m. Click here to see what's playing (You'll need your library card to see the schedule -- it has to be super-secret because of our licensing agreement).

Yo-yo club meets at 4 p.m. on Wednesday (bring a yo-yo and learn some tricks, or just watch the amazing yo-yo feats of others). The day concludes with our Astronomy Club for kids at 7 p.m.

Friday, November 11 is our yearly In-Service Day, where the library closes so that staff can receive continuing education. Fear not, however! If you have things you need to return to the library, that day doesn't count -- so you won't be charged overdue fees for the 11th. We'll be back open bright and early on Saturday, November 12 at 9 a.m.

For more information about any of our events, please give us a call at (330) 688-3295.

Last but not least, a little trivia: Marie Curie, the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize and the only person to ever win a Nobel prize for two different sciences (physics and chemistry) was born on this day in 1867. She didn't have it easy. The pioneering scientist left home at age 15 to become a governess so that she could pay for her sister's education. Read more about Curie's life in her own words at the American Institute for Physics' exhibit on her life and work. You can check out a number of books on Curie's life here at the library. A list for adult readers is here, and one for children, here

Curie shares a birthday with Joni Mitchell. the famous singer/songwriter was born on November 7 in 1943. Watch a video of her singing "Big Yellow Taxi" here, or take out a CD from our collection at the library. Click here for a sampling.

Enjoy your week - and don't forget to come visit us at Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library!
