PARK DISTRICT WANTS YOUR COYOTE PHOTOS

Metro Parks biologists have been studying coyotes in parks and conservation areas for several years. Now, they're looking for images of coyotes in yards and neighborhoods.

Metro Parks biologists have been studying coyotes in parks and conservation areas for several years. Now, they’re looking for images of coyotes in yards and neighborhoods.

Photos of the wild canines can be emailed to marketing@summitmetroparks.org through Wednesday, May 1. Submissions may be included in an online video about local coyotes that will be published on YouTube in the coming months.

Researchers from Metro Parks, Serving Summit County have been tracking coyotes to learn more about their range, diet and overall health. An overview of the study is available online: http://bitly.com/MPSSC-Coyotes

Coyotes are found throughout Ohio. They resemble small, slender German shepherds with bushy, black-tipped tails. Most are gray, though some have brown, off-white or rust-colored coats. Males are larger than females and can weigh between 20 to 40 pounds.
